International Women’s Day: The R-Evolution is on its way.

Hello friends,

Blessings to you, on this International Women’s Day! I’d love to share a personal story with you first of all, and then share about an event I attended today, called “Femme Q”- a power circle of women igniting a feminine r-evolution in our world.

I’m writing from Dublin airport, having just spent a few days with my sister and her family in Madrid. It was a precious time, and one moment especially stands out. My little niece Alena came in for a morning cuddle before school, and saw that I had been writing in my diary, under the title, ” Dreams”.

What was your dream about Aunty Ash”, she asked. ” I was dreaming about how to end war”, I told her, ” and in the dream, I heard 4 steps to do it, but now that I’ve woken up, I’ve forgotten!’.

Alena paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts, and then she said; ” Step one: talk about the problems. Step two: be brave. Step three: get help from other people. Step four: bring peace”.

Out of the mouth of babes! I of course welled up at this 10 year old girl, who in her own innocent way, laid out wisdom steps to take, to end conflict. Her words speak to the power of the feminine- to connect and communicate, and try to build bridges to those on the ” other side”. To face our fears and dig deep for courage, perhaps even to understand the layers we each bring to the conflict. To create partnerships, and draw on a wider network of support, rather than trying to do it alone. To hold the intention of peace, and to birth it in our world.

These were themes which emerged in a more adult language, in the Femme Q event. Indra Adnan ( I admit, who is my complete girl crush), was the main speaker, alongside other trailblazing women. She spoke of how the feminine and the wisdom of nature, are so desperately needed in our world to heal the state we’re in. Nature is about connection and communication, honouring both unity and diversity. We have so much to learn from it’s wisdom, and indeed, if we allow ourselves, we can BE that wisdom, it is us, in essence. Nature as a way of being, and developing, that could transform our relationships to one another, and to the planet, and change the trajectory of the devastating course we now find ourselves on.

Indra speaks here, of an awakening, but a waking up to what has always been present. If we consider a tree, it does not grow strong and healthy through lines and angles. Nor does it grow alone. It embodies a circular development, which spirals upwards as well as downwards, connecting it to sky above and earth beneath. It grows strong roots which join through the soil, to form a mycelial network that partakes of an ecosystem of supports.
